Stir Fried Green Beans w/ Chicken wings: Taum Kib Nrug kooj tis qab

by Cindy Her

Nyob Zoo (Hello) All!

Today, I’ll be showing you how to make a fairly simple stir fry green bean dish with chicken wings. This stir fry is a very nostalgic dish for me since it’s my dad’s go to dish to make when green beans are in season. It’s super delicious over rice and also very flexible in terms of adding other ingredients to it. Who knew oyster sauce and green beans would go so well together yeah?

So give it a try and get creative!

Main Ingredients

Green beans! Our green beans this year! Only lasted 2 weeks. They need lots of water and sun!  My mom giving it lots of love and care this year since the weather was on and off
Make sure to clean and trim off any unwanted rough parts before cooking Seasoning: Oyster sauce, Golden Mountain Seasoning Sauce, mushroom seasoning, and salt  Aromatics: Ginger & Garlic
Chicken Wings!!
Make sure to cook them until they are golden crispy. Color=Flavor!
Saute and enjoy with rice! So easy!  So GOOD!

Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 12 chicken wings (cut between the drumette and flat/wingette part)
  • 2 lbs green bean (trimmed and sliced)
  • 2 tsp salt to season the chicken wings
  • 1 tsp mushroom seasoning for the chicken wings
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp sliced ginger
  • 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp Golden mountain seasoning sauce
  • 2-3 Tbsp water (to steam the green beans)
  • Optional: Pepper flakes or fresh chopped chili pepper
  • Sliced onions (optional)

Instructions

1. In a pan, add 2 tbsp of oil. Place the cut chicken wings in along with the salt and mushroom seasoning. Mix well. Cover with a lid and cook on medium high heat until it becomes crispy (around 5-8 minutes). Stir occasionally and cook evenly as you go. Also be careful of oil splatter. Once the chicken is cooked and crispy. Remove from the pan and onto a plate.
Reserve about 2-3 tbsp of the chicken oil to stir fry the green beans.
2. Place the pan back on the heat with the reserved chicken oil. On medium heat add in garlic and ginger. Saute for 1-2 minutes and then add in the sliced green beans. Then turn the heat on HIGH and add in about 2-3 tbsp of water. Cover the pan with a lid and let it steam for a good 2-3 minutes. Uncover and stir to cook evenly. Saute for 2-3 more minutes or until you have reached your desire green bean texture. High heat will create a good char on the green beans and also allow the green beans from becoming soggy. Add the chicken wings back in along with golden mountain seasoning sauce and oyster sauce. Mix well and taste. Turn off heat and enjoy with white rice!

Notes

You can make this vegan/vegetarian by adding tofu and vegetarian mushroom "oyster" sauce. Use other protein of your choice as well!

Made these tonight. Did not get that crispy golden chicken wings but the entire dish is good. Love the tip about cooking green beans on high heat because it worked. Thanks for sharing!
