Grandma’s Oven Baked Pork Ribs

Nyob Zoo!

I’m so excited to share with you the pork ribs I grew up eating. This is the way my grandma would make it for us growing up and it still hits till this day. It’s finger licking good and goes so well with your favorite pepper dipping sauce & rice. It’s a great bbq recipe to put on your list for any bbq day. My grandma usually cooks this in the oven, but you can also fire up your outdoor grill and bbq these too! It’s soooo flavorful so I hope you can give it a go. Happy cooking!

Main Ingredients

The seasonings

My grandma likes to use whatever sauce and seasonings she has in her pantry and fridge. So sometimes the ribs taste  a little different every time she makes them. Here are the basic seasonings she likes to add. Pepper flakes and black pepper for some spice. A combination of oyster sauce, sweet dark soy, and golden mountain seasoning sauce for umami and color. She also adds sugar and a little bit of salt.

Add the seasonings into the cut pork spare ribs and mix well. Marinade overnight for maximum flavor. After it’s marinaded, place the ribs onto a sheet tray lined with foil. Bake it in the oven or you can also cook it on your grill. My grandma likes to bake it in the oven on broil 425′ for 25 minutes, rotate the meat and then another 20 more minutes OR until it’s cooked to your desire color.
After the pork is cooked, let it rest for 5 minutes before enjoying. This pork is amazing with fresh steamed rice since it’s so flavorful. Make your favorite hot pepper dip and you have a complete meal. I grew up eating these ribs with mov ntse dlej (rice mixed with water), pepper dip, and some sort of vegetable on the side. OH HOW DELICIOUS this meal is! So give my grandma’s delicious finger licking pork spare ribs a try!

Happy Cooking!

Cook Time 45 minutes

Servings 6 people

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs pork spare ribs
  • 1 Tbsp sugar (15g)
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper (2g)
  • 2 tsp salt (13g)
  • 2 Tbsp Golden Mountain Seasoning Sauce (34g)
  • 2 Tbsp Kwong Hung Seng Sweet Soy Sauce (38g)
  • 3 Tbsp oyster sauce (Panda brand) (75g)
  • 2 tsp dried chili flakes (optional) (6g)

Instructions

  • Cut the pork spare ribs into individual portions if needed. Place the pork into a good big bowl and add in all the spices and sauce. Mix well to completely coat the pork ribs. Cover and marinade overnight. When you're ready to cook, place the marinaded pork on a baking sheet lined with foil. BROIL at a temp of 425'F for about 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, rotate the ribs around and continue baking for another 20 minutes. Rotate the ribs around and cook for another 10-15 more minutes to evenly golden brown all sides. You can cook it less time as long as the pork is cooked to a temp of 180'F or higher. It should have some pretty char on it for extra flavor! Let it cool for 3-5 minutes before enjoying it with pepper dipping sauce and rice!

Hi! I only have Kwong Hung Seng Black Soy Sauce, could I possibly use this, and maybe add a little bit of sugar?
