Hello Foodies!
Here’s to another childhood favorite of mine. My Dad’s chicken and shrimp fried rice. The fried rice he would make for us before going to school. I haven’t had this version in so long since we’re all grown up now. So I told my dad to make it for us and it still taste exactly like when we were younger. Super easy, tasty, and full of flavor. Give this one a try and let me know what you like to put in your fried rice.
Main Ingredients
Gai lan (Chinese Broccoli), onion, tomatoes, egg, shrimp, chicken breast and Jasmine rice.

Ingredients
- INGREDIENTS
- ~4-5 cups cooked Jasmine rice
- 1 chicken breast sliced thinly
- ~1 cup shrimp (cleaned/devein)
- 2 small tomatoes (sliced)
- 1 small onion (sliced)
- 1 handful of Gai Lan or Chinese Broccoli (sliced)
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp salt to season the chicken
- 1 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1-2 tsp dark sweet soy sauce
- 2-3 tsp fish sauce (add more or less after tasting)
- 1-2 tsp Maggi seasoning sauce (add more or less)
- Sriracha (add as much as you want)
- Oil to stir fry
- ---GARNISH---
- Cucumber slices
- Chopped cilantro
- Orange slices
Instructions
- In a pan add 2 tbsp oil. Add the sliced chicken breast along with 1 tsp of salt. Cook until most of the meat is pale white. Then add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes. Then add the sliced tomatoes and onions. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Then add the cracked eggs and stir. Then add the cooked Jasmine rice, seasonings, and stir to mix. Then add the chopped Chinese broccoli. Cook until the Chinese broccoli is wilted. Taste and adjust.
- Serve and garnish with sliced cucumbers, cilantro, and orange slices. Enjoy!
