Nyob Zoo! Hello!

Nyob Zoo! Hello!

It's Cindy Her!

Nyob Zoo! My Name is Cindy Her. I’m a full time Pastry Chef in the Pacific Northwest and creator, recipe developer, and video producer for C.HerCreations (C.HawjCreations), a digital platform dedicated to Hmong food and storytelling. I specifically focus on Hmong food I grew up eating but I also venture into other South East Asian food as well. As a second generation Hmong American woman, my goal is to teach you what Hmong people love to eat, what we cook, how we cook it, how it has evolved, and how we enjoy it. So welcome to my food blog! I want you to learn a little bit more about the Hmong food culture and I hope you all stay tuned on this culinary adventure with me.

What’s good

Nyob Zoo All!! It’s time for the next South Stor Nyob Zoo All!!

It’s time for the next South Store Sunday Supper event happening on Sunday August 9th at 6:00 PM! Join us for a family-style Hmong dinner created by Chef Cindy Her, featuring Winemaker Junichi Fujita @vigneronjun of Juna Vineyard.

Hmong cuisine is a collection of culinary dishes through the history of Hmong immigration. Hmong food is heavily influenced by cuisines in surrounding Asian countries like China, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, United States, and many more countries. This pre-fix ticketed dinner will be a cultural culinary adventure, so if you are an adventurous diner interested in trying a new cuisine, you won’t want to miss this event. Because this dinner is an exploration of a traditional cuisine, special diets cannot be accommodated, and we are not able to offer vegetarian options. Non alcoholic drinks can be provided upon request. Tickets are $150ea (at Checkout) and includes cocktails, wine, and gratuity. There’s going to be lots of great drinks, food, and good company! 😊

The location is @southstorecafe in Oregon! This is a seated ticketed event, so purchase your tickets to reserve your spot! We have limited spots so get them soon!

Tickets for this dinner are on sale NOW until sell out. Please click on the South Store Cafe online ordering tab at the top of the Home page and go to Sunday Supper. You can also call (503)628-1920 to reserve your spot during business hours (9am-3pm).

We hope you can join us!

MAY ✨ Can you believe it’s June already? What a c MAY ✨

Can you believe it’s June already? What a crazy, beautiful month it’s been. I’ve been spending more time cooking more for myself and my family outside of the digital world, spending more time in the garden, organizing my schedule, my thoughts, and prioritizing my time to make some fun events and projects happen this year. Now I’m back in editing mode and doing lots and lots of recipe testing for this summer’s dinners. My mind is filled with so many creative ideas I don’t know where to start. So hello to June!

We spent the whole day smoking freshly butchered p We spent the whole day smoking freshly butchered pork & homemade sausages. But let’s give it to my dad for being able to fast build this open smoker-grill pit for my mom this morning.

Besides smoked beef, smoked pork is also a great ingredient Hmong people love to make and have. Its smokey and rich flavor pairs great in soups. It goes really well with pretty much any kind of vegetables but my favorite is with sour bamboo.

Comment “bamboo” for sour bamboo soup recipes! I’ll DM you the link 🙂

MAY 14 HMONG AMERICAN DAY ✨ Food has always been MAY 14

HMONG AMERICAN DAY ✨

Food has always been something I’m passionate about. Many of our older generation cook by intuition, so being able to preserve my family recipes and write down exact measurements to share online has been a way to help keep our culture alive. There’s still so much to learn and discover, so let’s continue to stick together and learn from one another.

Recipes are available on my website. Link in my bio! Sorry, no Hmong sausage recipe just yet! 😎

Comment “Hmong” and I’ll DM you the Hmong dishes to cook playlist!
